The City of Jacksonville will honor the life, legacy, and lasting impact of Bigga Rankin by officially proclaiming August 2 as “Bigga Rankin Day.” The official proclamation will be presented to his family during the K.I.N.G. Foundation’s Back to School Community Day on Saturday, August 8 at 1:00 PM at A. Randolph Park in Jacksonville, Florida.
The recognition was confirmed prior to Bigga Rankin’s passing and stands as a tribute to his extraordinary contributions to music, culture, mentorship, and the Jacksonville community. Throughout his career, Bigga Rankin became one of the most respected voices in Southern hip-hop, helping break artists, shape careers, and open doors for generations while proudly carrying Jacksonville with him everywhere he went.
But Bigga’s impact extended far beyond the music industry. He consistently used his platform, relationships, and influence to give back, mentor others, create opportunities, and represent the city and community that helped shape him.
By officially proclaiming August 2 as Bigga Rankin Day, the City of Jacksonville is recognizing a legacy built not only through music, but through service, leadership, mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to his hometown.
Members of the Plummer family will accept the official proclamation on Bigga Rankin’s behalf during the public presentation on August 8.
